Halo Headband Review

I live in the southeastern United States and this time of year it gets miserable for outside activities. The high temperature is close to one-hundred, it’s humid, no breeze, and you sweat as soon as you walk outside.

While mountain biking, a common occurrence is your helmet soaks up all your sweat and then when you hit any sort of obstacle that makes your head bob, the sweat pours out and down your face. Yeah, it’s gross.

This is where the Halo Headband shines. It’s designed with a rubber gutter that wraps around your forehead and it catches any sweat and channels it to the side of your head. As someone who wears glasses riding with this has been a huge improvement for keeping my eyesight clear and lenses clean. Here is an up-close look at it:

The Halo Headband is a one size fits all that is made out of an elastic material so it will stretch to fit any size head. I have a small head and have friends with larger heads, none of us had any issues with the fit. We all wear it under our biking helmets too with zero issue.

Another great feature is it’s machine washable, dries quickly, and comfortable. At the time of publishing the Halo Headband is $15 on Amazon and I highly recommend it for those hot summer riding months. In fact, I bought one and then later purchased a second because I was getting so much use out of it.

  1. My experience has not been as good as yours. I find the rubber “gutter’ in the halo bands gives me a headache. My helmet pushes the strip into my forehead. I’ve tried both the tie-on and loop version of the headband. Now I’m looking for someone to give them to…and for a better, more comfortable solution.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! It’s interesting and I wonder if maybe if it is related to the helmet or how tight or loose we each wear ours. I’m curious what you find that works better. Please keep us informed. 👍

  2. I also did not have good luck with the Halo II pullover headband. First issue, the product gives me a headache after an hour. Maybe too tight, maybe the gutter pressed into my head by helmet, but the headache goes away as soon as I take it off. Also, it only prevents sweat from dripping onto my glasses about 20 minutes longer than my 10 year old bandanas. And after two wears and washes each, the top edge of the headbands are fraying. Not a fan.

  3. I have enjoyed my 3 or 4 Halo II ‘s for probably 5 years after getting the first one in a freebie grab bag at a charity century ride. I have a pretty big head but don’t get headaches wearing one under my helmet on long highway rides with my road bike. My problem is the silicone comes loose from the main material after a few years and washings. I called the company once to see if there was a suitable adhesive but the csr would not give me any recommendation. What I tried did not work at all as the silicone did not stick.
