Looking for an introductory hardtail? The Rockhopper Expert could fit the bill. It features a A1 Aluminum frame that is lightweight yet durable, with hydroformed top and downtubes, internal cable routing, and dropper-post compatibility.
The Rockerhopper Expert is equipped with a respectable component spec. You’ll find SRAM Level hydraulic disc brakes and a wide range SRAM SX Eagle drivetrain. The bike is tubeless-ready and equipped a Rockshox Judy fork. The one item missing from making this bike a complete package is a dropper post. But, at this price you might be able to find some change rolling around to fit something like a PNW Ridge dropper for about $150. Overall, the Rockhopper Expert is an excellent choice for riders who want high-quality performance at an affordable price.
2. StumpJumper Alloy

The Stumpjumper Alloy is a full-alloy mountain bike that features all-new suspension kinematics and progressive geometry. The drivetrain is provided by a SRAM SX 12-speed groupset. The suspension has been designed to offer the best all-round performance possible with 130mm in the rear and 140mm of travel up front.
To meet the price point Specialized has mixed up the component choices. Braking is provided by Tektro Gemini Comp brakes and rear shock is an xFusion 02 Pro. The fork is a RockShox 35 Silver, Solo Air. Which I feel like is a smart spec to have larger stanchions to keep things stiff on 140mm of travel. The bike is equipped with progressive geometry, with long, low and slack numbers, a short offset fork, and a steeper seat tube angle. You’ll get a platform that is ready to ride, but is also a worthy upgrade platform.
3. Ambush Comp Helmet

Specialized’s Ambush Comp is a wallet-friendly, lightweight mountain bike helmet that offers extended coverage and reinforced single density foam for added protection. The composite matrix reinforcement also manages the energy from impacts more effectively. Despite the added protection, the helmet fits comfortably thanks to the Mindset 360 fit system, which provides unmatched adjustment with five height positions and an integrated dial for on-the-fly fine-tuning. The 4th Dimension Cooling System optimizes ventilation, making it easy to stay cool even on hot days. The micro-indexing visor allows for secure on-trail adjustments and easy goggle storage. Additionally, the Ambush Comp is equipped with MIPS, which helps reduce rotational forces in the event of an angled impact.
4. Status 160 and 140

The Specialized Status may provide some of the biggest bang for the buck in the mountain bike market at the moment. Available in 160mm/160mm or 140mm/140mm versions this bike is equipped out with an amazing build kit.
The bike’s rear suspension features FOX’s FLOAT X Performance shock and a FOX FLOAT 36 Rhythm fork up front. This, combined with a SRAM NX drivetrain and SRAM Code R, 4-piston brakes make up a very compelling build. Many riders won’t be immediately thinking about upgrades with this spec.
5. Men’s Prey Trail Air Gloves

The Trail Air Gloves are made for hot trail days, with maximum ventilation in mind. The gloves feature a micro-vented, perforated palm for breathability, a lightweight breathable back of hand, and power knit mesh between fingers for airflow. For the wrist closure, the embossed neoprene cuff has small perforations for secure, comfortable fit. Additionally, the gloves are compatible with conductive touchscreens.
